We consume a load of time writing about Motorola 2 way radios, so we’ve chosen to do a series that concentrates on the earpieces that link up to them.

Not only do a number of respectable businesses manufacture top-of-the-range 2 way radios that are both inexpensive and trustworthy, there are also a large array of 2 way radio earpieces that vary from low priced and cheerful (but nonetheless effective) to the last word in techno badassery (Editor’s Note: not actually a word).

So, kicking off our new five-part run celebrating 2 way radio earpieces, is the Motorola 2-pin earpiece.

Amazon lists this earpiece at a low £17.50, but the Motorola 2-pin earpiece is surprisingly high spec for such a inexpensive device.

Firstly, it’s absolutely versatile, as it fits into any 2 pin Motorola two way radio. It may not be the greatest earpiece ever created, but it will fit with any number of diverse Motorola 2 way radios. However, I should say that the Motorola 2-pin earpiece does require an adaptor block to work with Motorola GP320 and Motorola GP340 series 2 way radios (oh well, you can’t have everything!)

Secondly, the sound quality is excellent; there will be no misunderstandings or poor communications when the Motorola gp300 earpiece is in use, that is for sure. For such a cheap device, it in reality reproduces noises amazingly clearly.

Thirdly, here are the features. These features are a bit thin on the ground when contrasted with a few of the costlier Motorola earpieces, but they still enrich the user experience and add to the overall product.

Want illustrations? Well, the GP300 earpiece is ergonomically manufactured to fit your ear channel comfortably and is easily capable to fit in both the left or the right ear (whichever you happen to favour).

It too has an in-built ‘push to talk’ switch, so you are not dependent on your walkie talkie’s controls in order to send an outgoing signal. It also has a sprung metal clothing clip that attaches the GP300 earpiece to whatever you happen to be dressed in, enabling you to be discreet, as well as to prevent tangling yourself up in wires.

In general, the GP300 is a fine two way radio earpiece. A variety of companies have made better ones and I would not propose this one if President Obama asks your organization to defend him on his next family skiing trip, but for most intents and tasks, the Motorola 2-pin earpiece gets the job done.

In our next episode, we’ll be taking a look at the GP340 earpiece, but for more information on the full range of Motorola 2-pin earpieces visit earpieceonline.co.uk
