I just got back from a couple of days at the Social Media Summit in Toronto, hosted by the Advanced Learning Institute and I’ve got to say, people seem to be really warming up to social media.
What really amazed me is that the audience was comprised of more than just Marketing, Communications and PR people, but IT, Training and Business Development were also sitting around the table trying to gauge how social media can help them.
I was also very impressed by the calibre of organizations represented at the event. There was representation from Microsoft, IBM, War Child and Uponor (sorry… last shameless plug, I promise). The presentations were phenomenal providing a healthy mix of theoretical and practical expertise and experiences.
Everyone I spoke to seemed to share the same underlining theme: social media is here to stay, so let’s learn how to use it properly. I couldn’t agree more!
One interesting discussion I had at the event was regarding the relevance of social media for B2B companies. What do you think? Does social media pertain to the B2B market?
